Survival February 1983 One of my earliest AK47 magazines. This one features the Galil which they call the 'NEW' super shooter

Basically, the Galil assault rifle can be described as a modified Kalashnikov AK-47 design. A licensed copy of the Galil is made in South Africa, called the R4

Soldier of Fortune Magazine April 1987 SOF Inspects the Sharp End of the AKM - This one was the prize of my collection..why did I sell it ??
Hangers, frogs and hilt loops can determine the country of origin also.

AKM bayonets are both fascinating and varied. Left to right: Hungarian, Yugoslav, East German, Romanian, Egyptian, Soviet (attached to rifle in the wire-cutting position), PRC black and red) and Polish. In the foreground are Hungarian and Yugoslav fighting knives and another Russian AKM bayonet. |

Guns and Ammo Assault Rifles from the guns and ammo action series Vol 10 No 2. published in 1992.
Although it has a storm trooper looking guy on the cover, it's full of good AK47 info. In fact this is one of the oldest and most interesting resources in my collection

The table of contents in this magazine is one of the best in my AK47 book collection

Another article with even more information on the AK47 variants around the world. Magazines like this were all we really had in these days before the internet. Notice the Romanian with the unique forward pistol grip in the lower handguard

Combat Arms February 1995 AK74s in 1995 !! This is another good one. The ad on the back cover is for B West Imports in Tucson AZ

In 1995 I saw this Ruger MP-9 in this magazine. I didn't get to see one until 2006 at SHOT Show. I wonder how long will it be before I get to fire one? I am not giving up hope

OK this isn't an AK47, but it's freaking cool and it was in one of these old magazines and here I am holding it at the SHOT show 2006..

At SHOT Show 2006 Ruger was divided up into law enforcement and hunting / sporting areas. We visited both of course and saw the new items and a returning favorite the MP9. Lots of old favorites in the sporting guns and a new upgrade to the P-95 |

An extensive chart to compare the various rifles. We had many conversations after reading this chart.. This was top notch information in the days before the internet

A report of one of the coolest and most modern AK47s we knew about. We didn't even see these in movies (we still don't too often)

American Survival February 1995 Gunsmithing your AK47

This was a great article from the earlier days of AK47 collecting in the US. At the time many of us had still never seen an AK except in magazines and movies

American Survival April 1996 Do these AKs look familiar? One of my favorite magazines from 12 years ago, but the cover shows some very familiar AK47s. Take a closer look to see what these are however and you'll see looks are deceiving. (Note the cover article "Concealed Carry Movement Grows" Well it sure grew and grew and now we can cary in almost every state )

An ad from Shotgun News ad for another magazine that features the AKS-74U (5.45x39 Krink) which acts as a reminder that there will never be a complete collection of AK47 magazine articles. As long as the AK47 and it's history remains we should expect to see magazine articles about the AK47 platform
